8000 Production and Laboratory OTDR

Highest quality OTDR measurements in the shortest possible time

Product Photo

The 8000 OTDR is the industry standard OTDR for production testing applications. That's because the 8000 is the only OTDR designed specifically for optical fiber and cable manufacturers. Its "performance first" optical design delivers the most linear, lowest noise signatures in seconds, and its Windows operating system facilitates integrating the 8000 with manufacturing information systems. The OTDR also features unique data acquisition capabilities, including noise-based averaging that significantly reduces measurement time, making it possible for manufacturers to minimize manufacturing costs and improve production output.

The 8000 is available in a variety of configurations to a wide range of OTDR testing scenarios:

  • Fiber or cable manufacturing optimized
  • Single-mode (SM), multimode (MM) or dual-mode (SM/MM)
  • Standard, high or ultra-high single-mode performance (dynamic range)
  • From 1 to 4 single-mode output ports
  • From 1 to 4 multimode output ports (with 50 and/or 62.5 um launches)
  • A broad range of standard wavelengths, plus custom wavelengths
  • Configurations for low cut-off (< 1060 nm) single-mode specialty fibers
  • Configurations for large core (> 200 um) multimode fibers
  • A CD bypass option for high performance single-mode configurations that provides fast, "zero loss" optical switching for your 2800 Chromatic Dispersion System to maximize test station throughput

Note that most 8000 configurations are compatible with OTDR productivity enhancing products such as the 1050C Cable Aligner, 1100 Single Fiber Aligner, 1120 Bare Fiber Aligner, and the OASYS.net OTDR Automation Software.
